It is important to keep in mind that transportation may not be available for your student depending on how close or far way from the school your student lives.  If you live outside the boundaries of St. Louis Park, the Equity Options Transportation program may not be able to serve you. To ensure transportation will be available, please use the St. Louis Park Boundary Map tool to determine transportation eligibility.

Park Spanish Immersion Elementary School (PSI) is a district-wide school for grades K-5. Entry into PSI is conducted at Kindergarten grade level for the upcoming school year via computer-randomized lottery process following the Park Spanish Immersion Admissions Policy 545. 

The curricular content and outcomes at PSI are aligned with the District's other elementary schools. At PSI, students are immersed in the Spanish language while they learn classroom content. We are working to ensure that the student body at PSI reflects the racial diversity of St. Louis Park, which is why we encourage multilingual and racially diverse families to apply. While students at PSI are primarily instructed in Spanish, PSI is an excellent option for multilingual students. PSI offers English classes and programming to support students whose home language is not English.

School Board Policy 503.1 states that “Families seeking early admission into kindergarten must submit a completed application form, two letters of recommendation from non-relatives, and a non-refundable testing fee to the District Office to cover the cost of professional testing and observation between January 1 and May 1 prior to the year of admission.”

Application for Early Admission

For some families, homeschooling is the appropriate educational choice for their child. Any person who provides homeschool instruction to a child is required by law to notify the superintendent of the school district in which the child resides. For complete information about homeschooling, visit the Minnesota Department of Education website at the link provided above. Key items are noted below:

Minnesota’s compulsory instruction law requires all children age 7-17 to attend a public or private school. Homeschools are a type of private school. See Minnesota Statutes, Section 120A.22.

Instruction must be provided in at least the following subjects:

• Basic communication skills including reading and writing, literature and fine arts
• Math and science
• Social studies including history, geography and government
• Health and physical education

A national norm-referenced standardized achievement examination is required annually if your child/children are in a non-accredited home school and are between the ages of 7-16. If you determine homeschooling is the best option for your student, complete the appropriate forms and submit to St. Louis Park Schools District Office by October 1 of each year. For first-time homeschooled students, a Pupil Immunization Record is also required when submitting the Nonpublic School Full Report. 

The MDE allows a set dollar amount each year for reimbursement of nonsectarian textbooks or instructional supplies per homeschooled student. If you wish to be reimbursed, you must request the Student Report for Aids to Nonpublic Students form and submit to the district by October 1 of each calendar year. Forms submitted after October 1 cannot be processed. Receipts can be submitted at any point in the school year but no later than May 15.

Additional Information

Student Services: A home school child with a current Individual Education Program (IEP) plan can receive special education services through shared-time enrollment. Contact the Student Services Department at 952-928-6069 for information about receiving shared-time special education services for a homeschooled student.

Child Find: St. Louis Park Schools is committed to locating any child residing within the school district boundaries that has a disability and may be in need of special education services. If you are concerned about your child’s educational achievement, language, articulation or social/emotional development and you suspect that your child may have a disability, please contact the Special Services Department at 952-928-6069.

Central Community Clinic is a free, walk-in clinic for children from birth through high school who live or go to public or private schools in St. Louis Park. The clinic entrance is on 35th Street at the northwest side of the Central Community Center, 6300 Walker Street.

Hours: Wednesdays from 1:00 to 4:30 p.m. during the school year; closed from the end of school until approximately the last week of July, and during school holidays. Services: There are no appointments. Patients are seen on a first come, first served basis. Services offered include well-child care, immunizations (for children qualifying for the MN Vaccines for Children program), evaluation and treatment of acute illnesses, sports physicals, and adolescent health care.
